Seaside Racing returns from May 26 to 30 for its fifth edition, a self‑funded initiative in applied vehicle dynamics research that pairs on‑track experimentation with open data sharing. Launched in 2021 by the MegaRide group and grown year after year through the spontaneous involvement of universities, companies and experts, Seaside Racing has become an open-air laboratory where technical testing, knowledge sharing and collaborative development come together in a unique format.

In the 2025 edition, the Circuito del Sele, overlooking Italy’s scenic southern coast, will again host a full week of on‑track activities. Its charming setting provides the perfect backdrop for a diverse fleet of vehicles, selected for their varied configurations and dynamic characteristics. The aim is to create realistic conditions to validate models, sensors, control systems and advanced automotive technologies.
Vehicles list:
- 124 spider (MegaRide)
- Alfa Giulia (Meccanica 42)
- Formula 4 (first single-seater in Seaside Racing history)
- WRC-spec Rally car
- BMW Superbike motorcycle
- Competition Kart

A broad vehicle selection ensures that every on‑track maneuver captures critical performance metrics, enabling accelerated iteration and enhanced precision in development cycles.
Technical activities will include:
- Characterization of tires via handling tests and objective maneuvers
- Data acquisition to test the new WOM device (designed by Carlos Nerini)
- Road-surface and rolling-radius characterization and recognition for predictive algorithm development
- Driving-style analysis with driver attention monitoring
- Brake-by-wire and control-system (ABS, ESP) characterization
- Objective emergency maneuvers (Double Line Change, Sine With Dwell)
- Handling characterization of the Formula 4 car
- On-track and off-road characterization of rally vehicles and tires
- Go-kart handling sensitivity tests with different setups
- Motorcycle handling characterization and performance correlation using VESevo data

As in past editions, what truly sets Seaside Racing apart is not just the technical content but the way it is shared. Following what has come to be known as the “Seaside method”, all the data collected during the track sessions is openly shared among participants. The open-knowledge approach fosters collaboration and provides all partners with valuable insights to explore new challenges in modeling, validation and vehicle simulation.
A project that blends technical excellence, scientific curiosity and human collaboration.
