MegaRide, a spin-off from the University of Naples Federico II and now an innovation-driven SME focused on physics-based software and testing solutions for the automotive and motorsport industries, has partnered with EDAG Group, a globally leading, independent engineering service provider to the mobility industry.

The two companies have recently completed a joint activity focused on the parametrization of a high-performance sports car and corresponding tires. The work involved reproducing the multifaceted physics of the tire, including thermodynamic behavior, wear progression and high frequency dynamics, in a demonstrative simulation environment. The real-time capable vehicle model delivers unparalleled precision in simulating vehicle dynamics, featuring an advanced aerodynamic package and a powertrain model calibrated using engine test bench data – ensuring performance that mirrors reality down to the finest detail.
To validate the realism of the model, the demo was tested on a high dynamic driver-in-loop simulator by a sim racer preparing to move into professional motorsport. The activity provided a valuable training platform, supporting the transition from virtual driving to real on track competition by exposing the driver to vehicle responses consistent with physical tire behavior.
The outcome demonstrates how accurate digital representations of tire behavior, combined with driver-in-the-loop methodology, can serve both as a tool for engineering validation and as a training resource, with potential applications across the automotive industry, including carmakers, tire manufacturers, OEMs, and motorsport.
